Eligibility criteria for Membership of the Sri Lanka Medical Association
Any medical practitioner who has Full or Provisional Registration with the Sri Lanka Medical Council (SLMC) under Section 29 shall be eligible for Ordinary Membership.
The name of the applicant should be proposed by two members of the Association who should countersign the application. All ordinary members are required to pay an annual subscription of Rs. 2500. Each year’s subscription shall entitle the member to all privileges of membership for that year. However Intern Medical Officers will not be eligible to vote or hold office.
Any medical practitioner who has Full or Provisional Registration with the under Section 29 shall be eligible to become an Ordinary Life Member of the Association.
The application process is the same as above.
Any person undergoing a course of training towards a degree in Medicine and Surgery recognized by the SLMC shall be eligible for Student Membership of the Association.
He/she shall be required to pay an annual subscription of Rs. 500 and will enjoy all privileges of membership except voting, holding office and receiving journals. A Student Member will be required to reapply for Ordinary or Ordinary Life Membership when he/she is eligible to do so.
Any medical practitioner who qualifies for membership as above and who resides abroad shall be eligible for Overseas Life Membership. He/she shall e required to pay a sum of USD 250 as the life membership fee.
