Sri Lanka has experienced a significant rise in number of reported Dengue cases and mortality of Dengue during the initial 6 month of the year 2017. The situation has led to an unforeseen number of hospital admissions of patients with fever that has created overcrowding in curative care institutes which might could hinder efficient management of Dengue patients.
Dengue clinical management sub-committee of Epidemiology unit of Ministry of Health, Nutrition and Indigenous medicine has issued following guideline on triage of fever patients with suspected dengue and criteria for admission. Sri Lanka Medical Association with collaboration of Epidemiology unit has also made available expert opinion on management of patients suspected of Dengue during the current Dengue epidemic as video presentations below.
